What goes on in the cocoon?

Postby curiousbutterflyman » Sun Apr 18, 2010 11:57 am

I been trying to find the exact things that go on, in a scientific form, inside a cocoon. I have read some things like metamorphosis (duh), the caterpillar turns into juice then into butterfly, etc...

The reason I'm looking for this answer is because I have had someone tell me that there are 3 different types of DNA, when the caterpillar is doing it metamorphisis, that will attack each other and one DNA remains left, and thus a butterfly...

I found this forum board through a search engine with a possible answer, but I got a 404, so I'm sure it's been deleted. If anybody can get back to me with a good scientific explanation of whats going on inside that cocoon from start to finish, that would be great!

Thank you.
