Just need to get some opinion:
I'm getting lots of eggs from milkweed plants and was thinking that these were ALL monarch eggs.
Since the discovery of a Queen visiting my butterfly garden this past weekend, what would be the proper etiquette on releasing lots of Queen butterflies. There was also a Monarch laying eggs.
The first several eggs that hatched appear to be Queens.
Since they appear to be in direct competition with Monarchs, is it wise to release so many queens?
Am I better to release the queens where I found the eggs or take them somewhere else to release them?
Just some thoughts. Seems that if I release them here, then I'll just keep getting more Queens.
Or just document when the Queens seemed to show up and use this info to compare with next year, etc....
Bought 5 more large milkweed plants to ensure that I have enough host plant. I believe that I bought Tropical and Butterfly weed. One is yellow flowers and the other is kinda red/orange/yellow.
