Nathan Miller, a student at Guelph in Canada, needs assistance with
his research. The goal of his project is to determine the geographic
origins of spring monarchs moving into the northern breeding areas
from the end of April through June. Each butterfly will be analyzed
for the ratios of hydrogen, and possibly carbon, isotopes in the
manner of the 1996-97 study that established that most of the fall
migrants in 1996 originated from the corn belt.
