Hello Coralee:
Monarch Watch has made their annual trek to Mexico at the end of February/beginning of March for the last two years. It's actually a good time to go because the temperatures warm up during the day -- mid 70's and the butterflies are warming up and flying around more, too. We've found it's chilly at night, but not bad, with temperatures in the low 40's. You will see lots of monarchs flying around -- some in town and some at the colonies, too. However, there will still be lots in the trees, too. One note: the sanctuaries close around March 15, so don't wait too long to go in March.
