Monarchs

Here in Missouri we have had a very rainy spring & I had not seen any monarchs. Today (6/16) after the rains stopped & the sun came out I found an absolutely gorgeous female monarch on my milkweed. She was perfectly formed with beautiful colors. Due to the rains my gardens are lush with milkweed, butterfly bush, coneflowers, lantana. She stayed around until I got a couple of photos. I will check for eggs...........

Friday, 8/7/0p........beginning to get some activity here in west St. Louis County. Found 2 monarchs mating three days ago & for the past two days, I've had both flying around the gardens. I know it is the same male as he is very pale & has a tattered hind wing..............And I,ve seen a female laying eggs, but unable to check as there are so many bumblebees around the milkweed & flowers..........

Much more activity here in west St. Louis county over the past several days - noticing several monarchs throughout the day, including males chasing females - was able to photograph a "loving couple" mating.

Have noticed more activity in the garden over the past 2 weeks with multiple sightings. Numerous eggs layed on most milkweed plants.
