Still Laying Females in Gaithersburg, MD

Postby ilsa » Tue Aug 31, 2010 5:02 pm

Just when I thought I'd be finishing up my 100 or so Monarchs this year, along comes a new female this morning in an egg-laying frenzy. She found everyone of my exposed milkweeds, all potted, including the tiny immature ones on the back deck and the ones in the front that were stripped bare by the last crop of caterpillars. So I guess the migration hasn't started here yet. That means more work for me!

Also, my first 12 adults of 2010 eclosed this morning. 6 males and 6 females.

Denise Gibbs at Black Hills Regional Park said there's been females there laying up a storm.
