Don't know if the rest of you save the Milkweed seeds when the pods begin to split but that's what I've been doing this past year. Have re-seeded my garden with them with success and have given away dozens to friends and family to keep the plants thriving.

Bunny Jo,
Yes, I collect my milkweed seeds, too. All my plants this year are from last year's seeds and they're all nice and healthy. I toss the extra into wild areas of my neighborhood.

My sister lives in Idaho and I've been supplying her with seeds to start her garden there. She said the same as you about scattering them in the woods near where she lives. I'm so glad I did re-seed my garden because I've had 30-40 caterpillars these past few weeks and there are only a few milkweed plants left standing!

Does any body know where I can get some milkweed seed that will grow in central NC?
Is it legal to plant weeds in NC?
