Saw quite a few the last 2 weeks. A couple males and a female just the other day laying eggs on my milkweed plants :)

2012 - Monarch eggs and cats found in Millburn NJ. but saw no Monarchs flying around anywhere yet. I have had none in my waystation in Union neither flying or eggs. This is only 2 towns overs less than 5 minute drive.

Had my first female Monarch in my waystation in Union NJ. She was kind enough to leave me eggs. What a great day it was. The only one I have had so far. She was beautiful !!!!

Seeing alot of Monarchs this week...alot of males... Are the males territorial ? I have ones male that keeps chasing the other away. He also chases other species away also. Must be waiting for his special girl ;)
Talk about waystation hog :)

During the breeding season males are very territorial. I've even seen them chasing birds out of their territory and other butterflies. The stronger male gets to mate with all the females that come through and therefore passes on those stronger genes.
