SE MI sighting

Postby Monarch MaMa » Sun May 29, 2011 10:44 am

On Saturday May 28 at 2:30pm, I saw my first monarch of the year perhaps 30 yards east of me.

It was flying E-NE, probably because directly north is thick woods and it was easier traveling through the fields. It was flying away fast from me so I could not discern the sex nor condition, but it appeared to be bright orange, not faded.

Have been collecting cats & testing eclosed adults for OE for the last 5 weeks. Its Sat July 9. I have found many to be OE free and am breeding them. Today I collected 410 eggs, last week over 900. Send a note to me if you live near northern Oakland Co and want some caterpillars.
