Monarch eggs and caterpillars in South West OH

Postby carlygoodman » Fri Aug 20, 2010 7:03 pm

I am six years old and My Dad is helping me type this. We have collected several milkweed plants with eggs and some very small caterpillars. We have fields filled with milkweed. This is our second year doing this and last year I named our two butterflies " Flutter and Rose" and we let them go a few days after emerging.

Hi Carly! My daughter is also six and we also live in southwest Ohio - just east of Cincinnati. Right now we have 5 butterflies on our dining room table waiting for morning so we can release them. We also have about 30 more chrysalises. Do you know what kind of milkweed you have? We have common, tropical, white swamp, showy, purple swamp, and butterfly weeds in our yard.

Good luck on your eggs & caterpillars! Thanks for helping the monarchs!
