Caterpillars, they come in many pastel colors, plus a dark form

This pictures was taken several years ago at the Pollinarium at the National Zoo. The Zebra is nectaring out of a small hummingbird feeder. I had some butterflies emerge in February. The zoo allowed me to bring them to DC (with USDA permission) and release them into their butterfly exhibit. It was too cold outside to release them. Unforunately, I didn't realize when my son opened our dark storage room and turned on the lights that it would untrigger their diapause. He was doing a chemistry experiment.
