Hi everyone, I am a teacher who has been fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mom/homeschool mom for the past 10 years. I have a 10 year old son and a 6 1/2 year old daughter. We have raised a number of different butterlies, as we discovered eggs/larva/pupa, in the past, but we became serious about Monarchs last year following an article in our local newspaper about the plight of the Monarch. We live on 4 3/4 acres and are lucky to have an abundance of wild milkweed. Last year we raised 37 Monarchs and tagged 25. Our goal is to tag 50 this year. So far we have raised 100+ cats and we tagged our 9th one yesterday! We have 6 more that will be ready to tag later this morning, 13 chrysalis, and 41 cats in various stages of developement. Looks like we'll attain our goal if all goes well. We went to the Powell Gardens Butterfly Festival last Friday and we were excited to spend time visiting with Chip, Jim and Anne. We are looking forward to the Monarch Watch Open House in September. We are excited to be a part of the Beta Testing Group. I enjoyed reading all of your posts. We have been adding to our nectar and host plants, but can't begin to rival some of your gardens. Wow!!
