Southern California overwintering sites

Postby tdogmom » Tue Nov 28, 2006 1:20 am

Huntington Beach's Central Park is one of the Monarch's overwintering sites. Nearby is another little park called Norma Gibbs Park in Huntington Beach. It is actually a very cute little Monarch sanctuary!

Santa Barbara county has several locations where Monarchs overwinter as well.

There is supposedly a spot in Costa Mesa where Monarchs will overwinter yet I've not seen any there.

There are supposedly some Eucalyptus trees along the McDonnel-Douglas/Boeing (or whatever the place is called now!) in Huntington Beach/Westminster where Monarchs also 'hang out.'

The Fullerton Arboretum tends to have Monarchs fluttering about all year long.

Good luck!
