Migration routes through West Tennessee

Postby Sabra Wineteer » Wed Nov 09, 2005 10:14 am

I was wondering if anyone knew the migration route monarchs take that passes them through West Tennessee. As long as I have lived here (3 Fall seasons) they have always come from a due east direction flying due west.

Thanks in advance.

Look at this map that shows the roost in fall of 2007 as they travel south you can see the paths they are taking. These paths are usually the same, but bad weather can be a huge factor. They can easily be blown off course by a hurricane or tropical storm.

Sending in sightings to Journey North can help fill in some gaps about the routes they take. Also, tagging Monarchs helps because tags numbers can be picked up along the way.
