Since the chrysalis was really dark and quite transparent that morning, I figured it would emerge that day, & it didn't disappoint. My co-workers were thrilled to see the process. It was another male, and by the time I brought it home with me, it was attempting to fully extend its wings. I never did see it eat, even all the next day, while I again had it along to the office, this time in a copier paper box, with a netting over the top (having tagged it with GBW 760). Everyone was delighted to see it again, but I was worried because it wouldn't eat.
In the early afternoon I sat it outside with part of the box in the sunshine, and that perked it up a bit, but I was still concerned it wasn't going to be able to fly when I released it due to lack of nourishment. Well, I needn't have worried because when I released it on 9-15, as soon as I arrived home, it emerged from the opened box, flew straight up into the sky - way above my house, made a sharp left, flew over my house & headed south & then southwest, and off into the sunshine. I was delighted to say the least!
