This female was reared during late August-early September and tagged/released on September 17 in Yakima, Washington. This is a straight-line distance of about 620 miles in a SSW direction.

This is a significant recovery and I would like to encourage Californian monarch watchers to keep an eye out for further Washington monarchs. Our tags are circular and white. Some are on the ventral hindwing surface, while others are on the dorsal surface of the RH forewing.

Bolinas is of course very near to many well known overwintering sites so some of our monarchs may well be joining these colonies.....
