Fall Migration

Postby Pixie » Tue Sep 22, 2009 7:10 pm

I am wondering if the peak migration for my latitude was earlier than normal this year. I haven't seen any monarchs since the end of August & the normal peak in St. Louis is generally mid-September. I did tag & release the last of my reared monarchs on September 12. On my small scale project, I tagged 3 caught/wild monarchs and 23 reared inhouse.

The only way that I know to get an accurate picture of the migration is by looking on the "maps" and "sightings" at Journey North.

Pixie....I just got the usual Thurdsay update from Journey North, and there's a posting concerning the unusual migration pattern they're following in your area this year......200 miles further west! Check it out!
