Question on Datasheet Instructions-Reared vs. Wild

Postby MonarchMom » Mon Nov 08, 2004 2:16 pm

Hi. I have a question on the Datasheet Instructions for tagging, concerning the Reared vs. Wild. This is my first year to tag. I thought that I understood that the Reared meant any cats that I had ordered from Monarch Watch, since they would not necessarily be local Monarchs.

I have brought in alot of wild cats and raised them in riparian cages. Now I'm wondering if I misunderstood "Reared", and I should have marked the wild cats that I brought in to raise as reared instead of wild.

Could someone please clarify this for me?

Thanks. :)

Reared vs Wild on Datasheet

Postby Jim » Fri Nov 12, 2004 9:24 pm

For our purposes, the Reared vs. Wild on the datasheet refers to the adults only...if the monarch emerged in captivity it is "reared" and if it was caught as an adult it is "wild" - I think this is explained on the back of the datasheet, but it must not be clear as we have had many questions about it
