In the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, we saw no Monarchs...at least those folks that I talked with hadn't seen any all summer or later. I've lived here three years and I've noticed that the resident butterfly populations start out the season in large numbers portending a great year for butterflies, but then quickly disappear once the dismal summer weather starts: ie. rain and cold.
