I live just outside of West Chester in south eastern PA and I have had ONE Monarch butterfly in my yard and it is July 10th..
My yard is certified as a Monarch Watch site with dozens of different types of milkweed and many plants to be used as nectar sources.
Although I keep checking, I have yet to see one single egg or caterpillar. Where are they all ??

I live in Stockton, CA
I have seen a small monarch in my yard. It was stretching its wings. I was so excited to see one.

Thanks, Monarch Watch folks, for a breath-taking photo!

It gives me pause to think that every.single.butterfly. in that photo likely exists because of the 'random acts of kindness' of enthusiasts who have deliberately planted milkweeds or saved a patch of them in the wild.

With our penchant to pave the planet, Monarch Waystations provide critical nectar for our important pollinators and the milkweed's latex for the caterpillars... well, latex: it's what's for dinner.

Gaze at the photo and wonder where each one came from... how many of the butterflies came to life on milkweeds in Minnesota or Maine or Mississippi...

Think about tomorrow's monarchs and plant a Waystation today. Where there's a will, there's a way-station...

The impact of the individual.
